This collection contains material about Alaska during World War II, gathered together in an artificial collection. It consists of letters and miscellaneous non-photographic items. Of special interest is a series of eleven letters written by S/Sgt Boris Tumarin (1469th AAF Base Unit ATC) in 1944-1945 while stationed in Nome, Alaska, with the Army Air Force. He describes his life and experiences to "Midge" [Hildegard Donaldson], world famous violinist and wife of Norman V. Donaldson, President of Yale University Press.
